Studied 1.5 years abroad in Paris (American College of Paris and Independent studies.)

Studied .5 year in Copenhagen (Independent Studies)

Work:             

1989-90                         I.M.Pei and Partners, New York, NY. Worked on several award winning designs with a team of architects. Some projects: The Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio: and The JFK airport addition in New York.

1989-91             Commercial Photo styling for fashion and interiors for magazines, runway and video.

1990-91             Self Employed Interior design & faux finish for high-end residential clients and hip Adams Morgan restaurants and clubs.  Washington, DC.

1991-94             Learned and practiced Stapatya Ved for high-end residential and commercial clients. Worked on several off the grid, alternative building technology houses in Fairfield, IA.  Learned about and specified many products for sustainability, non-toxicity, longevity and beauty. Particularly fell in love with Japanese details and Created the Community Resource and Welcome Center on the University campus as a pro-bono project, incorporating many of the ideas I had learned from the various Builders and craftspeople trained in the ancient crafts of Japan.

1994-99             Working on Kauai as a fine home designer. For 4 years I worked in Ron Agor’s office to complete my required Architecture Internship. Worked on projects ranging from a new Electrical Power Plant, a YWCA, and the Historic Restoration of The Allerton Residence in the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. The Allerton Residence involved coordination of many diverse organizations. I worked on the design and historic aspects as well as on site construction administration.

1999-present    Began Kimberley Larkin Studio to focus my work in the Fine Home Building and Interior Design aspects of my work.

License:         Currently in the process of completing my architecture License.

Robert Ellis

Robert Ellis landed headfirst on Kauai over two years ago and found paradise, vowing never to leave.  Originally from the Western Slope of Colorado, this computer nerd has worked in the design field for over ten years, bringing practical experience from various construction, mechanical and computer endeavors.  Among his accomplishments are a stint as an Army Paratrooper and an Associates Degree in Computer Science.  His hobbies include surfing, reading, watching movies with friends, computer gaming and surfing.
